Shillong, May 22: Shillong city and its adjoining areas will face a six-hour water supply shutdown on May 25, due to installation work under the Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme.
A notice issued by the Chief Engineer of Public Health Engineering (PHE said the shutdown will be in effect from 10 am to 4 pm.

The disruption is necessary for the installation of the New 6.6 KV High Tension Panels for replacement of pumping machineries of Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme.
“During this time, there will be no water supply to Shillong city and its adjoining areas,” the notice said.
The department added that every attempt shall be made to the extent possible to supply water to the public at the earliest once the work is completed.

“Inconvenience caused is highly regretted,” the notice said.
Residents have been advised to store adequate water in advance to meet their needs during the shutdown period.
