Guwahati, August 03: Due to scorching heat and temperatures above normal in Kamrup Metro district , school timings have been changed in Guwahati and adjoining areas of Kamrup. Metro district , a government notification says the timings have been changed in the interest of public wellbeing due to continuous rise of Mercury level and prevailing scorching heat.

Guwahati has recorded temperature of 38 degrees with over 80 percent humidity, which is about 6 degrees higher then normal at this time of the year, promoting authorities to change school timings.

All schools will start from 7:30 am and be wrapped by for the day by noon, and by 1 PM for higher secondary school.
