Guwahati, Mar 7: Panic gripped passengers on Saturday after thick smoke suddenly engulfed the engine of the Murkongselek–Rangiya Express near Pathalipahar in Bandardewa.
According to reports, the train was coming from Harmuti when smoke began billowing out of the engine near the Pathalipahar railway crossing. The sudden incident created panic among passengers onboard the train.
Railway officials were informed immediately and necessary steps were taken to control the situation. No casualties or injuries have been reported so far.
The incident has raised concerns among passengers and locals, with many questioning the railway authorities over possible negligence in ensuring passenger safety and proper maintenance of train engines.
