Shillong, May 30: A large boulder has reportedly rolled down from a hilltop onto the road between Umtyngar and Mylliem on Friday obstructing traffic and posing a serious safety risk.

Following the incident, the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) has announced a temporary closure of the road from 7th Mile leading towards Sohra. Authorities stated that controlled blasting will be required to clear the massive obstruction.

Until the debris is safely removed, vehicular movement towards Sohra will remain suspended. Commuters have been advised to avoid the route and take alternate paths where available.

Further updates will be issued by NHIDCL as the clearance operation progresses.
