Tura, Feb 10: In a direct outreach drive aimed at strengthening grassroots governance, Meghalaya Chief Minister and local MLA of 51–South Tura constituency, Conrad K. Sangma, led a locality visit under the “MLA Connect” initiative within Tura town on Tuesday.
The programme brought together senior district officials, including West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Vibhor Aggarwal and Superintendent of Police Abraham T. Sangma, along with line department officers and local residents for on-the-spot engagement and grievance redressal.
Residents flagged a range of civic concerns, with road conditions, youth-related issues, and local infrastructure gaps emerging as key themes. Citizens used the platform to raise day-to-day problems affecting mobility, employment opportunities, and urban services.
Officials said the issues highlighted during the interaction were documented by the district administration and concerned departments for follow-up action.
The Chief Minister’s presence underscored the government’s effort to bridge the gap between policymaking and ground realities in urban constituencies.
The MLA Connect initiative is designed to facilitate direct dialogue between elected representatives, administrators, and citizens, ensuring that grievances are heard at the locality level rather than routed solely through formal channels.
By conducting field visits within neighbourhoods, the programme seeks to improve coordination among departments and accelerate response to civic issues.
