Dilapidated ‘I Love Tura’ installation at ISBT Tura receives repairs ahead of Kite Festival

Must read

Tura, Dec 4: The iconic ‘I Love Tura’ installation at ISBT Tura, which had been left in a dilapidated state for months, has finally received the much-required repairs, just ahead of the Tura Kite Festival held on Saturday at the same venue.

The Tura Adventure Club (TAC) took the onus to make the repairs ahead of the festival.

The ‘I Love Tura’ installation, intended to be an attractive spot for selfies and photographs for both locals and tourists, had fallen into dilapidated condition just months after it was put up. Parts of the installation were broken by the public, contributing to its rundown condition.

Despite being a potential landmark for the town, the installation had remained neglected for months, leaving residents and visitors disappointed.

With the installation set to feature prominently in the Kite Festival as a background in photographs and videos of the media coverage during the festival, TAC has been wary enough to ensure that a good picture of Tura goes out to the world.

However, given the fact that it was left unattended for months, there is no guarantee that the newly overhauled installation will not meet the same fate.

Given the situation, one wonders if beautification and repairs are only for show and to project a false image of the state to the world through the media, meant for meeting short-term goals and then forgotten thereafter.
