Kohima, July 2: General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Eastern Command of the Indian Army, Lt Gen V.M. Bhuvana Krishnan, on Thursday met Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio to review the security situation, border infrastructure and Army-civil coordination in the state.
During his meeting with the Governor at Raj Bhavan, the Army Commander discussed national security, development of border areas and coordination between the armed forces and the civil administration to maintain peace and stability. The Governor lauded the Indian Army’s role in safeguarding the country’s frontiers and appreciated its humanitarian assistance and civic action programmes in remote areas of Nagaland.

Lt Gen Krishnan later paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio at his official residence. The two discussed the prevailing security scenario, infrastructure development in border areas and ongoing initiatives jointly undertaken by the Army and the state government to support local communities.
Rio congratulated Lt Gen Krishnan on assuming charge as the GOC-in-C of the Eastern Command and wished him a successful tenure.

Lt Gen Krishnan recently took over as the head of the Eastern Command and is on a tour of the northeastern region to review areas under its jurisdiction. The Eastern Command oversees the Army’s operations across the Northeast, including Nagaland.
