Guwahati, Jan 11: The Election Commission (EC) will visit poll bound Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland from Wednesday, starting with Tripura to review election preparedness.
The three member EC team will be headed by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, and also consist of Election Commissioners Anup Chandra Pandey and Arun Goel.
The three northeastern states have geared up for the Assembly polls and started their campaigns. The three states will be the first to have Assembly polls this year, most likely in February-March.
While Tripura has a BJP government, in Nagaland, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party is in power. National People’s Party, the only party from the North-East to have a national party recognition, runs the government in Meghalaya.
