Imphal, July 9: Manipur Police have arrested six more members of Arambai Tenggol (AT) in connection with the physical assault on an officer and personnel of the Manipur Police during a bandh in Bishnupur district.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Laishram Sanahal Singh alias Sana (26), Kangabam Nongdamba Singh (23), Laishram Premchand alias Kandrang (18), Laishram Rishikanta Singh (20), Sarangthem Rabichandra alias Rabi (28), and Yumnam Jaswant Singh (22).
According to the police, a total of eight AT members have now been arrested in the same case.
The arrests were made in connection with an incident where angry protesters attacked and injured the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) and his escort team.
The incident took place while police personnel were attempting to disperse a violent mob in the Nambol Thongkha area of Bishnupur district.
Bishnupur Police have registered a suo motu case under FIR No. 39(6)2025 NBL-PS, invoking multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)—including Sections 189(5), 191(1), 190, 195(1), 223(a), 109(1), 118(1), and 351(2)—relating to obstruction of duty, assault on public servants, unlawful assembly, and attempt to cause grievous hurt.
