Food baskets distributed to TB patients at Patharkhmah CHC

Nongpoh, Dec 3: The Office of the District TB Officer, Ri Bhoi District, distributed Food Baskets to the on treatment TB Patients on Saturday. These food baskets will help the patient in attaining nutritional needs.

The meeting was chaired and welcomed by Dr. K. Lyngdoh, Medical & Health Officer in charge of Patharkhmah CHC.

To sensitize the ambitious goal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of ending TB target by 2025, Dr. W. Chyne, MOTC, Umsning TU, said the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (PMTBMBA) is a newly campaign launched by the President of India on September 9, 2022, where any individual, political parties, NGOs, Corporates etc. can come forward to adopt TB patients on treatment for a minimum of 6 months for their Nutritional Supports, Diagnostic, Vocational training and more. He also spoke about TB and the devastating of health, social and economic consequences of TB.

He informed about the general signs and symptoms of TB include coughing with or without blood for 2 weeks, fever of any duration, unexplained weight loss and night sweats. If anyone has any of the above mentioned symptoms, he/she should come as early as possible to the nearest Health and Welfare Centre, Primary Health Centre and Community Health Centre for screening and testing, which is provided free of cost, he said.

P. Lyngdoh Mawphlang, STS, Nongpoh TU, said the food baskets were donated by Dr. P. Kharnarry, District Medical and Health Officer, Ri Bhoi District, Dr. A. Rynjah, Assistant Program Officer, State NTEP, Shillong and Dr. K. Lyngdoh, Medical and Health Officer, in-charge Patharkhmah CHC for the period of 6 months.

He told the gathering that there are many TB patients who are yet to be adopted by the donors, and urged everyone who is willing to help to come forward to support and take part in this program towards elimination of TB by 2025.
