SHILLONG, JUNE 3: Four minors reported missing from Jorhat were traced and recovered from a hotel in Police Bazar here on Monday, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem said Tuesday.
“Yesterday we received information that four children — two males and two females — had gone missing from Jorhat,” SP Syiem said.
A team from Sadar Police Station and the Women Police Station launched a search and recovered the children from JK International Hotel, Police Bazar.
The minors are aged between 16 and 17 years. A 26-year-old male adult was also found with them, police said.
“During enquiry, the missing girls informed that they were friends and the other two children are cousins,” Syiem said.
“They came on 31.05.26 and came for sightseeing without telling their parents.”
A police team from Jorhat along with family members of the children arrived at Sadar Police Station on Monday itself, and the minors were handed over to them, the SP added.
Police have not reported any foul play at this stage. Further inquiries are being handled by Jorhat police.
