Shillong, Feb 24: Meghalaya Government will soon begin the auctioning of coal as the state Government is likely to begin the process from East Jaintia Hills.
Informing this, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said, “First of all we will start from East Jaintia Hills, next it will go to the west, southwest, and then to Garo Hills.”
With the guidelines of the National Green Tribunals, the centralized depots were made as the state Government targets to move ahead with the auctioning of coal, at least in the depot where the stock of coal is available.
“We have created a depot and loading and unloading takes place every day now in that centralized depot…coal is already there… This is done according to the direction of the NGT,” Tynsong said.
“From the state Government side, we have written to the NGT that please revise the rate, because the rate it seems its quite low, so let the NGT decide and then get back to us.,”
Asked, he said the NGT’s verdict on the issue is yet to come. “We have just raised this issue and this is done … we are ready now… everything now is in place, whatever guidelines… now the issue is the price and once this issue is done, we will go ahead,” the Deputy Chief Minister added.
