Govt to regularise excess expenditures in upcoming budget session

Shillong, Feb 24: The state government will regularize Rs 949.05 crore of Rs 2,400 crore excess expenditures in the upcoming budget session of the state Assembly, which will commence from March 5.

This was informed by the finance department during a review meeting by the Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Tuesday.

Addressing media persons, PAC member and Mawsynram MLA Himalaya Shangpliang said the committee has summoned the finance department over the reported excess expenditure that they have over a period of time which had accumulated to more than Rs 2,400 crore since 1,972.

“The finance department (informed) it is ready to regularize Rs 949.05 crore during this ensuing budget session of the Assembly. They are going to place this Bill in the Assembly for consideration of the House,” he said.

Shangpliang however said that the balance amount of about Rs 1,500 crore will also be brought for regularization during this year’s autumn session of the Assembly
