Shillong, Nov 17: The Garo Students’ Union (GSU), Eastern Zone has submitted a memorandum to the Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui urging immediate completion of the sanction‑post process for Loyola College, Williamnagar in East Garo Hills District.
In the letter, the union highlighted that Loyola College is widely regarded as a People’s College, serving a large number of students from economically weaker and rural backgrounds in East Garo Hills.

It said while other People’s Colleges in the state have already received sanctioned posts and their faculty members have begun drawing salaries, Loyola College remains the sole institution yet to receive approval for its posts.
The delay has created hardships for teaching staff and is affecting the smooth functioning of academic activities, thereby impacting students’ futures.
“(We) therefore humbly urges your esteemed office to kindly speed up and complete the sanction post process for Loyola College at the earliest,” the GSU said while emphasizing the need for parity with other People’s Colleges.
