Shillong, Feb 10: In an unfortunate turn of events, a husband and wife were charred to death after their house at Nonglum Mawlynrei Rngi, Mawlynrei caught fire at around 2 am on Wednesday.

The couple was identified as Michael Marboh and Belinda Kharumniud. The headman of Mawlynrei Pyllun, O. Pyngrope said, “The incident occurred at around 2 am. It is a wooden house so by the time the neighbours were out to seek help, the fire had completely destroyed the house”.

However, their children were not inside the house as they were staying with their grandmother in Nongrah.

Meanwhile, police sent the bodies to Shillong Civil Hospital for postmortem.
