Shillong, June 6: West Jaintia Hills district administration on Thursday constitute an enquiry committee to probe into the death of Pynche Bareh at Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Jowai.
“In order to ascertain the facts and circumstances leading to the unfortunate incident and to ensure accountability, a committee is hereby constituted to conduct a detailed enquiry,” DC Abhinav Kumar Singh said in his order.
Bareh, who was a pregnant mother died at the hospital on Wednesday.
The committee will be headed additional deputy commissioner B Blah. The committee has been directed to complete the enquiry and submit its report by June 9.
As per the terms of reference, the committee has been asked to examine the sequence of events and medical procedure undertaken during the patient’s admission and treatment, to verify whether standard operating procedures and medical protocols were followed, to ascertain if there way any delay, negligence, or lapse on the part of the hospital staff, to record statments of relevant hospital personnel, family members of the deceased and also other concerned parties and to make specific recommendation for remedial action, if required, including measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
All officials concerned including the MCH hospital superintendent have been directed to extend full cooperation to the committee and provide all necessary records and information as and when required.
