Shillong, Apr 25: Keri G Momin delivered a record-breaking performance in the 5th Meghalaya State League (MSL 5), scoring seven goals to lead A·chik SCO Rongjeng (ASCOR) to a resounding 9-0 victory over Balmanduri FC in Group G at Williamnagar on Saturday.
In what turned out to be the most dominant individual display of the season so far, Keri opened his account in the 18th minute and struck twice more within six minutes to complete a rapid hat-trick (18’, 20’, 24’). With the match effectively decided early, he continued to torment the opposition defence after the break, adding four more goals in the 48th, 71st, 81st and 84th minutes.
What made the feat even more remarkable was that this was Keri’s first time finding the net in the current edition, instantly propelling him into the spotlight with the highest single-match tally recorded in MSL 5.
With Balmanduri unable to recover from the early onslaught, ASCOR maintained complete control throughout the contest. Cherryan G Momin (58’) and Junjun N Marak (90’) added the finishing touches as the scoreline underlined the gulf between the two sides on the day.
The emphatic result not only boosts A·chik SCO Rongjeng’s goal difference but also reshapes the dynamics of Group G, especially as teams approach the midway stage of the league.
