Shillong, June 25: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has collected a significant revenue of Rs 11,98,48,208 from professional tax for the year 2024-2025.
This was informed by Executive Member (EM) In-charge of Finance, Seiborlang Warbah, during the summer session of the KHADC.
Warbah explained that professional tax is paid by various groups, including government employees, teachers, bank employees, business owners, industries, and contractors.
He highlighted the department’s efforts in collecting the tax, which contributes to the council’s revenue.
The EM In-charge of Finance also revealed that there are currently 20 members in the department dealing with professional tax collection. This highlights the council’s commitment to managing its finances effectively.
