The initiative, which will run from June 1 to 30, seeks to create awareness among farmers on crop protection, pest and disease management, and sustainable agricultural technologies through field demonstrations, farmer interactions and extension activities.

The programme was led by Dr Namita Singh, Dean-in-Charge of the College of Community Science, Tura, who stressed the importance of protecting agricultural fields through improved crop management, scientific farming techniques and stronger community participation.

She urged farmers to adopt sustainable agricultural practices to improve productivity and strengthen livelihood security in rural areas.

Officials said the campaign is expected to focus on building resilience among farming communities amid growing agricultural challenges linked to climate variability, pest attacks and declining soil health.

Farmers, village leaders, faculty members and students participated in the launch programme and reaffirmed their commitment towards sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture in the region.
