Tura, January 5: Renowned Garo vocalist and co-founder of the popular Eye to Eye Band, Bobby Moore K. Marak, passed away on January 3, 2026, after a prolonged illness at his residence in Chitoktak, Tura. His demise has left a deep void in the cultural and musical landscape of the Garo Hills.
Apart from being an accomplished musician, Bobby Moore K. Marak also served with dedication as an Inspector in the Meghalaya Police, earning respect both in uniform and on stage.
He was widely admired for his soulful voice and memorable compositions, especially the iconic songs “A·ai, A·ai” and “Chanchinabe An·tangko Silbata Ine,” which he himself sang for Eye to Eye Band. These songs touched the hearts of many and continue to hold a special place among music lovers in the region.
He was laid to rest on January 5 at 9:00 a.m. at his residence in Chitoktak, with a Guard of Honour by the Tura District Executive Force (DEF). The funeral ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Thomas A. Sangma, Superintendent of Police, Tura, Abraham T. Sangma, and Bruno A. Sangma, Superintendent of Fire and Emergency Services, Tura.
Family members, friends, fellow artists, and a large number of fans gathered to pay their final respects to the departed soul.
Bobby Moore K. Marak will be remembered not only for his service to the state but also for his immense contribution to Garo music, which will continue to inspire generations to come.
