Imphal, April 25: Locals have built a bypass road after miscreants damaged a key bridge on National Highway in Manipur ahead of the second phase of Lok Sabha elections.
A muddy bypass road was built, and the vehicles were plying using the road. The residents of Manipur have found out a way for vehicular movement.
The bridge was badly damaged and as a result no vehicles could pass through the bridge. The locals initiated the action and constructed a makeshift road for the movement of the vehicles.
The bridge on NH-2 in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district, which connects Imphal with Nagaland’s Dimapur, was partially damaged in an IED explosion by unidentified individuals early on Wednesday.
The KSO-Sadar Hills condemned the bomb blast that rocked Sadar Hills on Tuesday night resulting in destroying the concrete slab bridge that connects the Kuki areas down south from Sapormeina with Kangpokpi. The KSO-Sadar Hills strongly believes that such acts of terrorising innocent Kuki people are carried out by mercenaries that are at the fingertip of the Meitei extremist group.
The KSO-Sadar Hills cautioned all individuals who enjoy free passage in and out of Kuki area. In case, if found an accomplice, the right to free passage in Kuki area will be reconsidered and the KSO-Sadar Hills urged the concerned authority to handle the situation judiciously.
