Tura, April 18: Social activist Eman Ch Marak has alleged serious irregularities in the conduct of the West Garo Hills Auto Association Lucky Draw, claiming that several winners have not received their prizes months after the event.
In a formal complaint submitted to the Superintendent of Police (SP), Tura, Marak stated that the lucky draw, held on February 7, at New Tura Playground, has left multiple winners waiting despite being declared successful and holding valid tickets.
According to Marak, the prizes including the 5th prize, a Maruti Celerio car and the 2nd prize, a Scooty Ntorq remain undistributed.
He alleged that winners have made repeated attempts to claim their prizes but have faced delays, evasive responses and inconsistent information from the organisers.
Marak further claimed that the organisers have failed to maintain proper communication channels and have not provided a fixed or reliable office location, making it difficult for winners to follow up on their claims.
Describing the situation as deeply concerning, Marak said the alleged inaction and lack of transparency undermine public trust and may amount to fraudulent practices. He also expressed concern over the potential damage such incidents could cause to the reputation and dignity of the A’chik community.
The activist has demanded the immediate distribution of all pending prizes to rightful winners. He warned that if the organisers fail to comply, legal action including approaching the High Court will be pursued.
Marak has urged authorities to take cognisance of the matter, initiate a thorough investigation and ensure justice for the affected individuals.
