Guwahati, April 18: A major liquor consignment—around 150 cases—meant exclusively for sale through Canteen Stores Department (CSD) outlets catering to Army personnel was seized during an attempted smuggling operation at the Missamari depot in Assam’s Sonitpur district on Friday.
The joint operation, carried out by Assam Police, the Tezpur-based Gajraj Intelligence Unit, and local Army authorities exposed a well-coordinated attempt to divert restricted supplies into unauthorised channels.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the team intercepted the consignment while it was being moved out of the depot premises.
The seizure underscores the need for heightened vigilance and strong inter-agency coordination to curb illegal diversion and protect the integrity of military supply chains.
An FIR has been registered at Missamari Police Station.
