Nongpoh, July 28: A 47-year-old man, identified as EB Nongshli of Umtasor Mawdkhar village, was swept away by the swollen Iewsier river on the evening of July 27 while spending time with friends on a bridge over the river.
The incident occurred around 7:00 PM. According to eyewitnesses, Nongshli was relaxing on the bridge when he suddenly slipped and fell into the river. Due to the strong current and high water levels following recent rains, he was quickly carried away before anyone could intervene.
Despite immediate rescue efforts by his friends and local residents, the victim could not be located.
