Shillong, Sept 28: The National People’s Party (NPP) has decided to field Pyniaid S. Syiem from Mawryngkneng and Abdul Saleh from Rajabala for bye-elections to these constituencies.
The decision was made on Tuesday evening, Rajya Sabha MP and State NPP president, Dr. WR Kharlukhi informed. Meanwhile, there has been no word on candidate from Mawphlang constituency.
Bye-elections to these constituencies are scheduled on October 30, 2021.
The Assembly seats for these constituencies fell vacant following the death of the sitting legislators, namely, David A Nongrum from Mawryngkneng constituency, SK Sunn from Mawphlang constituency and Dr Azad Zaman from Rajabala constituency.
Election Commission announces polling datesÂ
The date of polling has been fixed on October 30 while date of counting is November 02.
The date of issue of gazette notification is October 1 while the last date for filing nominations is October 8.
Scrutiny of nominations will be held on October 11 and the last date for withdrawal of candidatures is October 13.
