SHILLONG, JUN 12: Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar on Thursday said discussions on border fencing in Lyngkhong are still underway at the district level and the state will approach the Centre after examination.
“That is from the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Even now, the DC is in coordination with the land owners. Discussions are still in progress because this is an international issue,” Dhar said.
He added that exact details on distance from border pillars are with the DC’s office.

“The land owners have their demands, and the DC will have to examine them properly in coordination with NBCC, since they are the implementing agency. We will see after the examination. Obviously, we will take it up with the central government,” he said.
On non-tribal trucks in Jaintia Hills, Dhar said the administration will act as per law. “We cannot simply say, ‘you can’t come here’ or ‘you cannot go there’. We have to go as per the law,” he stated.
