Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar on Thursday said discussions on border fencing in Lyngkhong are still underway at the district level and the state will approach the Centre after examination.
In a region where border fencing projects routinely get stuck over terrain, legal challenges, land ownership and diplomatic complexities, Meghalaya has achieved remarkable success on the border it shares with Bangladesh.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday assured that the government is working aggressively to complete the fencing along the international border with Bangladesh.
The Centre has asked Meghalaya government to fast-track the completion of construction of the fencing along the international border in view of the prevailing situation in neighbouring Bangladesh.
