Meghalaya HC directs State to decide on Suraksha Salvia settlement within a week

Must read

Shillong, Oct 31: The Meghalaya High Court has directed the State government to communicate its decision within a week regarding a settlement proposal in a case involving Suraksha Salvia LLP, which was running a diagnostic centre at Pasteur Hill, Shillong.

The court’s direction came after the appellant’s counsel submitted that a proposal for settlement had been forwarded to the State, but no formal communication had been received.

The State’s counsel, however, stated that the documents furnished in support of the settlement were found to be not genuine, and the State was not willing to settle the dispute.

“The State respondents are directed to communicate its decision with regard to the settlement proposal to the Advocate-on-Record for the appellant within a week from date,” the division bench comprising Chief Justice I Soumen Sen and Justice W Diengdoh said in its order passed on Thursday.
