SHILLONG, JUL 2: The Meghalaya High Court on Wednesday directed that a fresh status report be filed on cases involving MPs and MLAs, after noting that one matter in East Khasi Hills is awaiting transfer to the District Council Court and another in North Garo Hills is pending final arguments.
Justice HS Thangkhiew passed the order in In Re-Designated Courts for MPs/MLAs, WP(Crl.) No. 9 of 2023.
The Court was hearing the suo motu matter concerning designated courts for MPs and MLAs.

Government Advocate R Colney filed a status report on behalf of the State respondents regarding the progress of cases.
“The learned GA submits that the position remains the same except that in East Khasi Hills, 1(one) matter is pending awaiting orders for transfer to the District Council Court and the North Garo Hills, the matter is pending for final arguments,” the order noted.
“The submissions are noted,” Justice Thangkhiew said.
The Court took the report on record.
“The copy of the report is taken on board and made part of the record.”
The matter has been listed on August 3, 2026, for a fresh status report.
