Condoling his demise, Conrad K. Sangma expressed, “Dr. Lapang remained committed to the cause and concerns of the people of Meghalaya till his last breath. His qualities as a leader will always inspire the NPP family, and his absence will be truly missed.”

He further remarked, “In his demise, the party has lost a fatherly figure, a guide, and a mentor to every member of the party. His contribution to public life and his unwavering dedication to the welfare of the people will remain a source of inspiration for generations to come.”
