Shillong, May 19: A two-day National Conference titled “Artificial Intelligence as an Intervention across Disciplines: Prospects, Issues/Challenges, and Strategies” was held on May 16–17, at Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya in Assam, in collaboration with Research Forum–India, New Delhi.
The event explored the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across diverse fields such as engineering, science, management, healthcare, business, agriculture, education, law, humanities, and social sciences.
Organised jointly by the Departments of Computer Science, Management, and Micro-electronics & Semiconductor, the conference featured over 16 eminent speakers and resource persons from across the country, sharing insights on AI’s integration and ethical challenges in academic and professional domains.

Prof. J. P. Sampath Kumar, Director of the National Institute of Design, Jorhat, attended as Chief Guest, while Prof. Samip Baruah of Royal Global University delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the cross-disciplinary potential of AI.
A key highlight of the conference was the presentation of 60 research papers by students and scholars from institutions including North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Assam University, Dibrugarh University, Bodoland University, Nagaland University, Ravenshaw University, Himalayan University, Telangana State Horticultural University, BPUT University (Odisha), Assam Engineering College, Royal Global University, and Girijananda University, among others.
These student-led presentations covered cutting-edge topics such as AI-driven solutions for precision farming, digital education platforms, healthcare diagnostics, smart governance systems and AI ethics, showcasing young researchers’ growing contributions to this rapidly evolving field.
