Tura, March 4: The fraternity of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Tura Campus, has strongly condemned the alleged physical assault on Prof. Kailash Chandra Biswal, describing the incident as shocking and unacceptable.
According to a statement issued by the university on Wednesday, the incident occurred on March 2 at Mawlai Bypass while Prof. Biswal was returning from NEHU Shillong.
Prof. Biswal serves as a Professor in the Department of Management at NEHU Tura Campus and is currently holding additional charge as Registrar In-Charge of the university.

The NEHU Tura Campus fraternity termed the act of violence as completely unacceptable and contrary to the values of respect, safety and dignity that educational institutions are meant to uphold.
The statement noted that academicians dedicate themselves to guiding and mentoring students while also discharging administrative responsibilities when required. It stressed that they are entitled to perform their duties in an environment free from fear, intimidation and harm.
The campus fraternity has urged the appropriate authorities to take immediate and serious action in the matter and to ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future.
