People should have faith in vaccine: Hek

Shillong, Jan 15: As the country gears up for the vaccination drive that will be kicked off by PM Narendra Modi on Saturday, Health Minister AL Hek urged people to see the bright side of getting vaccinated.

“We should have faith in those medical experts and scientists who has done all the efforts and hard work to bring out the vaccines,” Hek said.

Hek further said, “We have 35 thousand doses of Covishield, the Serum Institute of India’s coronavirus vaccine, initially 16 thousand health workers from Meghalaya will be vaccinated in the first phase.”

Stating that people has to come voluntarily for the vaccination, the health Minister said, “We are prepared for the roll out of the vaccination as we will start to vaccinated the health workers, 16, 000 health care workers will be vaccinated throughout the state and two doses will be given, first doses will be given on Jan 16 and we have received 35,000 doses till date.”

Meghalaya has identified 11 sites for the vaccination drive that will be rolled out on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has appealed to the health workers to get themselves vaccinated even as he expressed full confidence in the medicine.

“Our appeal to all the health workers please get yourself vaccinated, there is no issue, there is no doubt at all that you will have complication after the vaccination because this has been tested properly and I request all the health workers to kindly get themselves vaccinated ,” Tynsong said.
