DADENGGRE, May 3: A worsening power crisis in Dadenggre has triggered widespread public anger, with residents reporting up to 10–20 unannounced electricity cuts daily, severely disrupting households, education, and local businesses.
With no fixed schedule for outages, daily life has become increasingly unpredictable. Residents say essential activities—from cooking and water supply to students’ studies—are being repeatedly interrupted, while small businesses are suffering mounting losses. “Power goes off anytime. There is no warning, and it’s affecting our livelihood,” a local resident said.
Responding to growing unrest, Dadenggre MLA Rupa M. Marak convened an urgent meeting on Saturday at the Circuit House with officials from SAI Computers, along with Nokmas and representatives of local NGOs.
During the meeting, company officials attributed the frequent outages to technical faults in the local power grid and said a detailed assessment is underway. The MLA directed the agency to take immediate corrective steps and ensure restoration of a stable and reliable power supply.
The meeting also addressed serious allegations that some field workers were collecting money from villagers for transformer repairs. Officials clarified that such practices are unauthorized and urged residents not to make any payments for maintenance-related work.
Concerns over rising electricity tariffs and billing discrepancies were also raised, with assurances from the agency that corrective measures would be taken to streamline billing and address consumer grievances.
Despite these assurances, residents say there has been little improvement on the ground so far, and are demanding swift, transparent, and long-term solutions to resolve the ongoing electricity crisis.
