Tura, Aug 22: A conglomeration of pressure groups from the Rajabala circle has lodged a strong objection to the recent appointments of two Cluster Resource Persons (CRPs) under Demdema C&RD Block, West Garo Hills alleging violation of the state’s reservation policy.
In a memorandum submitted to the District Mission Co-ordinator (DMC), West Garo Hills, the organisations including the Garo Students’ Union (GSU), Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) Garoland State Movement Committee (GSMC), A•chik State Peoples’ Front (ASPF), NIKSAMSO and APA has demanded the immediate cancellation of the appointments of Hazira Yasmin Mondal and Rani Sarkar as CRPs.

The pressure groups pointed out that the vacant posts under Demdema BMC and Scisella BMC were meant to be filled by local Scheduled Tribe candidates. They alleged that the appointments made were “illegal and unfair” since the selected candidates do not belong to the ST category.
“The appointments were not made in accordance with the state reservation policy. We strongly demand strict adherence to the policy to ensure fairness and transparency,” the groups said.
They urged the DMC to intervene immediately and cancel the appointments, warning that failure to act could erode community trust in the recruitment process.
