Shillong, Feb 6: After more than 72 hours of searching, the Search and Rescue Team, along with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have recovered the suspected body of 30-year-old ragpicker Marshal Marweiñ, who had been trapped under a mountain of waste at Marten since Saturday morning.
The Search and Rescue Team, along with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), other ragpickers, and family members, came together to locate the missing body of Marweiñ.
Around 4:45 PM on Tuesday, the SDRF and the Search and Rescue Team recovered one disintegrated body suspect to be of Marweiñ since his waste picking tools were also found nearby.
However, PRO of the Directorate of Civil Defence & Home Guards, Paul Shylla said they cannot officially confirm the body to be of Marshal Marwein since it is burnt beyond identification
Shylla informed that a police team from Mawlai police station has arrived at Marten.
He further said the body is likely to be shifted to Civil Hospital for the post mortem.
