The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) on Monday demanded an inquiry into the alleged assault by a police officer, for assaulting two of its member at Pynursla Police Station on Saturday.

Following a misunderstanding during a meeting, the Director of NEIGRIHMS, Prof. (Dr.) Nalin Mehta, issued an apology on Wednesday for his immature attitude towards the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC).

The protest was staged amid tight security in view of the Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to the state to chair the plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) here.
