The deputy commissioner and chairperson of the district disaster management authority (DDMA) of East Khasi Hills has advised the public to avoid all non-essential travel to Pynursla and surrounding areas during the monsoon that resulted in unpredictable heavy rainfall accompanied by poor visibility due to dense fog which increase the risk of motor vehicle accidents and frequent landslides particularly along the Shillong-Pynursla road.
