West Garo Hills district administration has extended the curfew imposed under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) following incidents of violence and disturbance of public peace in the region.
The North Garo Hills district administration banned weapons, unlawful assemblies and group movement toward West Garo Hills, where a curfew is in force, citing credible inputs that travel through the district could escalate violence.
The District Magistrate of West Garo Hills has extended the curfew across the entire district amid the prevailing law and order situation following recent incidents of violence and disturbance to public peace.
The district administration of South West Garo Hills has prohibited the sale of petrol and diesel in jerry cans, bottles and other containers with immediate effect, citing rising tensions linked to the upcoming Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) elections.
