Guwahati, Nov 8: In a tragic incident, three first-year students of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar went missing on Saturday after reportedly falling into a waterfall in Harangajao village in Assam’s Dima Hasao district.
According to reports, a group of students had gone for an outing to the Boulsol (Bulchol) waterfall, located about 55 km from the NIT Silchar campus, on Saturday afternoon. One of the girl students is said to have accidentally slipped and fallen into the water, while two others fell in while trying to rescue her.
The missing students have been identified as Sauhard Rai (20) and Sarvakritika (20), both from Uttar Pradesh, and Radhika (19) from Bihar.
An official from NIT Silchar confirmed that all three are enrolled in the first year of the institute. Search and rescue operations have been launched by local authorities, with assistance from the District Disaster Management team.
