Shillong, Apr 26: Tripura U-15 Girls and Assam U-15 Girls advanced to the final of the 2nd North East Rising Cup after registering wins in their respective semi-finals on Saturday.
At Judges Field in Guwahati, Tripura defeated Manipur U-15 Girls by 65 runs via the VJD method in a rain-affected encounter. The match was initially halted at 27.1 overs in Tripura’s innings before being revised to a 24-over contest, with Manipur set a challenging target of 187.
Earlier, Tripura had scored 165/4 in 27.1 overs, led by Rimsha Karmakar, who struck a composed 53 off 52 balls, and Sayantika Sutradhar, who added 38 off 40. For Manipur, Laishram Linthoi Chanu picked up 2/28.
In reply, Manipur were bowled out for 121 in 21.1 overs despite a fighting 51 off 39 balls from Viviene Laishram and 21 from Marvi Maibam. Tripura’s bowlers held firm, with Purba Chowdhury (2/20) and Alankrita Saha (2/26) among the wickets.
In the second semi-final at the ACA Cricket Academy Ground in Fulung in North Guwahati, Assam U-15 Girls produced a dominant performance to defeat Mizoram U-15 Girls by 10 wickets.
Mizoram struggled with the bat and were dismissed for just 45 in 30.2 overs, with captain Remruati PC top-scoring with 12 off 53 balls. Assam’s bowling attack was clinical, led by Ishita Chanda (3/1), while Princy Priya Borah (2/2) provided strong support.
Chasing a modest target, Assam raced to 46 without loss in just 5.3 overs. Aradhya Dutta remained unbeaten on 22 off 18 balls, alongside Murshana Baruah, who scored an unbeaten 13.
The final between Tripura and Assam will be played on April 26 (Sunday) at Judges Field in Guwahati.
