Two arrested in connection with Assam’s matric scholarship scam

Guwahati, Jan 4: In connection with the Assam (Pre Matric scholarship case) CID P.S Case no. 20/2020 U/S 120B/406/ 409/419/420/468/471 IPC added sections 66C and 66D I.T Act. a team of CID with the help of local police conducted a search at various locations under Nagarbera and Boko P.S in the intervening on Sunday night and Monday. During the search, two accused persons namely – Md. Ashraf Ali, 33 years, from Badla Pathar village, under the Nagarbera P.S and one Mustafa Ahmed, 31 years, from Jawakatadiya under the jurisdiction of Boko P.S were apprehended.

Accused Md. Ashraf Ali is a business correspondent who is also a CSP owner of Central Bank of India, Malibari bazar while Mustafa Ahmed acted as middleman to misappropriate scholarships amount meant for students belonging to the minority community of Barpeta.

Accordingly, both the above mentioned accused persons have been formally arrested by CID on Monday in connection with the above-noted case.

32 accused has been arrested by the police as of Monday with the connection with the above-noted case.
