Tura, July 15: In a move to enhance the standard of basketball officiating in the region, the Meghalaya Basketball Association (MBA), in collaboration with the Williamnagar District Basketball Association (WDBA) and the District Basketball Association Tura (DBAT), successfully conducted a two-day Basketball Referees’ Clinic at Don Bosco College, Tura.

Held from July 14 to 15, the clinic aimed at equipping referees across Garo Hills with technical and practical knowledge in line with modern officiating standards. A total of 13 participants underwent intensive training, covering game rules, mechanics, ethics, signals, game management, and physical fitness.
Led by experienced state and national-level referees, the clinic combined theoretical sessions with on-court practice, including mock games, scrimmages, and video analysis. It concluded with a written test and assessment to evaluate the referees’ readiness.
The clinic also served as preparatory groundwork for the Meghalaya State Sub-Junior Basketball Championship 2025, scheduled to begin in Tura on July 16.
