Nongpoh, March 20: In a major blow to the Regional United Democratic Party (UDP) in Ri Bhoi district ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, many of the top party leaders on Wednesday announced their decision to quit the party and cease all coordination with UDP.

Donbok Khymdeit, the Working President of UDP State Wing and Ri Bhoi District Unit, informed that several top UDP party leaders, including the parent body, Youth Wings, Women Wings, and leaders of the UDP State, have decided to leave the party and discontinue any coordination with the oldest regional party, UDP.

He stated that these top leaders, along with others, have left the UDP Ri Bhoi District Unit without encountering any issues or inconveniences with the UDP party. Instead, they have made this decision based on their own understanding and will.

Khymdeit, the outgoing president of UDP Ri Bhoi District, along with former UDP MDC of Nongpoh, Rona Khyndeit, and many other leaders, joined the National People’s Party (NPP) on Wednesday.

The former UDP leaders will be welcomed into the NPP fold in a meeting at Sajer, Nongpoh, by the NPP National Leaders on Friday.
