Jowai, Mar 20: The National People’s Party candidate for Shillong Lok Sabha constituency Dr. M. Ampareen Lyngdoh said that she will act as bridge between the Pnar community and the leadership in Delhi to raise concerns of the people in the Lok Sabha.
Speaking at an election meeting in Jalaphet, East Jaintia Hills with Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, cabinet Minister in Conrad Sangma led ruling Meghalaya government, Ampareen said, “I will work in close coordination with the Dollois, the Waheh Chnong (headmen) to understand their problems and raise it in the Parliament”.
She also met the party workers of Sutnga Saipung block.
“I express my gratitude to party for selecting a female and the people for electing female MLA from Saipung constituency to represent their voice in the Meghalaya legislative assembly,” she said, while expressing that the NPP has given women the role of leadership to articulate the concerns of the people of the State.
“It is time for the people of Sutnga Saipung to now elect a female as their MP”.
Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar justified that NPP choose a women as MP candidate because she is a mother and own responsibility not only at home but also the constituency.
Castigating the regional party VPP for trying to accuse the MDA government as ‘corrupt’, he said, “If the allegations are true, why would the people trust and repose their faith in NPP for consecutive terms”.
Dhar also underscored that Dr. Ampareen is the most eligible person to represent Shillong in the Lok Sabha and articulate that she will represent the aspiration of over a million people from the constituency.
Dr. Ampareen also addressed an election meeting at Khliehriat West Community Hall today and sought peoples support. Others who accompanied her were MLA of Sutnga Saipung Santa Mary Shylla, MLA of Jowai Wailadmiki Shylla, NPP MDCs from JHADC amongst others.
Dr. Ampareen further urged the people to unite under the banner of NPP and demonstrated to the people of the country that Meghalaya believes in the leadership of women. “Every stakeholder of our society, the women, youth, headmen and leaders should come together to send a loud and clear message by electing a women to represent them in the Lok Sabha,” she said.
