Union Minister Suresh Gopi reviews development projects in South Garo Hills

Tura, Oct 28: Union Minister of State for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Tourism Suresh Gopi visited South Garo Hills on Tuesday to review the implementation of government schemes and assess the functioning of various departments.

A review meeting was held at the New Circuit House, Baghmara, attended by Deputy Commissioner Sumit Kumar Singh, Superintendent of Police Shailendra Bamaniya and senior officials from different departments.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner briefed the Minister on ongoing and completed projects and highlighted connectivity and infrastructural challenges faced by the remote district.

Expressing satisfaction with the district’s performance, the Union Minister urged officials to “push harder for greater outcomes” and emphasised the importance of strengthening IT infrastructure. He also recommended setting up a mental health clinic in the district.

Later, Gopi visited an Anganwadi Centre at Dabit Ampangdam, inspected the Baghmara Civil Hospital and interacted with students at Baghmara Government Higher Secondary School.
