Shillong, Oct 24: The Police along with the Search and Rescue Team of the Fire and Emergency Services recovered the body of Ricky Thangkhiew, a 21-year-old youth, from the Wah Lyngngam river on Friday.

Ricky reportedly drowned yesterday while attempting to take photographs near the river.

According to the police, he accidentally slipped and was swept away by the strong current despite efforts by his friends to rescue him.

According to family members, Ricky had gone on a picnic with his classmates from Synod College, Shillong, when the tragic incident occurred.
