Guwahati, Aug 16: In a late-night operation along the Sribhumi border, security forces apprehended and pushed back 21 Bangladeshi nationals who had allegedly entered Indian territory with nefarious intentions.
The operation took place around midnight, with officials confirming that the individuals were identified and immediately escorted back to Bangladesh.
Authorities reiterated that identification and pushback drives will continue as part of ongoing efforts to prevent demographic changes and secure the state’s borders.
Announcing the development on social media, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma remarked, “Freedom at midnight? Quite literally!”
According to officials, the group had allegedly crossed into Indian territory with “nefarious intentions.” Upon identification, they were swiftly escorted back to Bangladesh in the early hours, underscoring the state’s zero-tolerance stance on illegal immigration.
