Tinsukia, Feb 21: In a horrific incident, a tea garden manager’s vehicle was torched by miscreants at section 31 Hansra division in Raidang tea estate in eastern Assam’s Tinsukia district on Monday evening.

The manager identified as Jagdish Singh Phulera escaped unhurt after his vehicle was set on fire by the miscreants.

Sources said the miscreants tried to kill the manager of the Raidang Tea Estate.

According to reports, the incident took place at around 4-5pm in the evening when the garden manager was on his regular inspection visit at Section 31 in Raidang Tea Estate of Hansara Division.

Meanwhile, the garden manager Jagdish Singh Phulera has filed an FIR at Doomdooma police station.

The All Assam Tea Tribe Students’ Association (ATTSA) has condemned the incident and demanded for an inquiry.

“In the past, the garden manager has been attacked three times. Even after filing FIRs multiple times, we are unable to understand why the administration is failing to take the incidents seriously and not taking any steps,” stated ATTSA leader.

The ATTSA alleged that the garden manager has been earlier attacked by unidentified miscreants on two accounts.

“A vehicle of a garden manager was set on fire by miscreant yesterday. Nobody was injured in the incident. We have started our investigation,” said a police official of Doomdooma police station.

On Tuesday, the ATTSA staged a massive protest at Doomdooma demanding action against the miscreants. The entire area is tense after the incident and the people of the area are demanding security of the garden manager and the workers working in the tea garden.
