Guwahati, April 25: In a major blow to the Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO), two militants of the proscribed group were killed in an encounter with the security forces and one cadre was nabbed from a hideout in Assam’s Kokrajhar on Monday night.
The slain KLO militants have been identified as Abhijit Deka of Rowta and Nipon Roy of Bongaigaon.
After getting specific information about the presence of KLO militants, a joint operation was launched inside the forest of Chakrashila Wildlife Sanctuary where an encounter took place between security forces and KLO militants.
During the encounter, two militants were killed while one cadre sustained injuries and was arrested.
Police sources informed that four cadres of the outfit managed to flee from the spot.
The police also discovered a hideout of the KLO inside the sanctuary and recovered two pistols, two knives, two machetes, four mobile phones, some electric wire, and incriminating documents from the location.
